But with that out of the way, maybe the best summation of the song itself is to say that it sounds very Coldplay. There is, of course, no way to tell what the rest of Chris Martin & Co.'s upcoming fifth album will sound like. But "Teardrop" sounds as if it could have been on 2008 LP Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.
Maybe it's a bridge between the last album and this one? After all, "Violet Hill" certainly wasn't the best offering from the last album, yet it was the first single. Then they hit us with "Viva La Vida."
Oh, well — I listened to this a couple times, and it had me humming along. It's not the most immediately catchy piece of music, and really doesn't kick in until Martin starts wailing with "waaaaaaaaterfall" nearly three minutes in.
Maybe it's a grower? Anyone else feeling it?
