Hawaii Under Tsunami Threat - Tsunami Watch 09/29/09

Heightened alert in Hawaii has been released as a report by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)on 8:57 AM today revealed that 8.3 magnitude earthquake has been identified with the Samoa Islands Region. Although a task force is still determining if the threat is ominous to coastal areas in Hawaii, the data that NOAA generated revealed that an earthquake that strong on the Richter scale can cause severe destruction even if the area is far off from its epicenter.

We can all just pray for Hawaii that they will be safe. The expected arrival of the tsunami, in case that happens, will be on 1:11 PM HST. NOAA will be releasing updates about the Hawaii Tsunami Watch every hour. Here's the NOAA report about the tsunami threat in Hawaii.

Latest New Moon Posters Are Out - See RPattz, Kristen, Taylor and Dakota!

The Twilight sequel New Moon is just 53 days away and Summit Entertainment has released 3 versions of this film's posters just to excite the fans looking forward to it. Derrion Albert is just a regular 16 year old who has a bright future ahead of him. Yet, last Thursday, September 17, Derrion met an unfortunate situation on his way home from school. The authorities believe that Derrion was just in a wrong place at the wrong time after being clubbed to his end.

Communities are now denouncing on what happened to Derrion Albert. This Derrion Albert video uncut should be a wake up call to Chicago Public School system on how they should deal with the gangs that hang around their premises. Derrion Albert was astudent of the Christian Fenger Academy High School. The latest reports from USA Today said that four people are now being held responsible for this - they are Silvonus Shannon, Eugene Riley, Eric Carson and another unidentified teen. Mike Leach - Texas Tech Coach Bans Twitter Use for Football Team

Too bad, Texas Tech team are taboo-ed to use Twitter! That's not an alliteration joke but it's actually true - Coach Mike Leach from the Texas Tech Red Raiders has issued a ban of using the online micro-blogging platform craze because his tardiness in their meeting was broadcasted to the world. Yesterday, the Texas Tech team lost to Houston Cougars with a score of 29-28. Leach's late arrival during their Sunday meeting was blamed by everyone as the cause of their loss.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported that it was the Texas Tech linebacker named Marlon Williams who first tweeted on his account on why he was stuck in their meeting room as "the head coach can't even be on time." This controversial message on Twitter has now been deleted. Now, after their loss, the lineman Brandon Carter bitterly snapped "This is not how I saw our season" in his Twitter account. For this, Brandon Carter was suspended indefinitely for the alleged violation of team rules and now his Twitter has disappeared in the Twit-sphere altogether. Gmail Fail September 24 - Gmail is temporarily unable to access your Contacts

Many Gmail subscribers are again getting irked today as the "Contacts" of the email service is not accessible. Although you can still login like usual, you cannot readily access the email addresses of the people who are listed in your address list. Likewise, GTalk is also having problems and this is why you cannot chat too.

I tried to email successfully but I have to manually extract the email address of the receiver. The official Gmail blog has yet to reveal what is causing this glitch. For now, you might just want to extend a little bit of effort trying to figure out the email addresses of your friends. Good luck!

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady Sued by Paparazzi over Wedding Incident

It was the wedding in Costa Rica that was supposed to end with "happy ever after" for supermodel Gisele Bundchen and New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady. Yet this might not be the case for the newly-wed couple as two photographers (paparazzi, actually) are suing them for $1 million dollars over the alleged shooting that almost endangered their lives, limbs and career (to annoy more celebs). Agence France-Presse (AFP) photographer Yuri Cortez and local Costa Rican photographer Rolando Aviles have already filed the appropriate lawsuit against the couple in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

Although nobody was hurt by the bullets that were fired, the paparazzi insist that they suffered mental anguish and physical injuries because of that. AFP, one of the largest news networks in the world, stood by their photographer as it incurred a great expense over that incident, since a rented car was damaged. Also, two photographers feared for their lives as the bullets narrowly missed them. Bundchen and Brady, together with their agents, are still not commenting about this issue. Oh well, they should rather have a wedding under a rock if they don't want paps to hang around. After Floyd Mayweather Jr. extinguished Juan Manuel Marquez last night, the current WBA Welterweight Super Champion belt holder Shane Mosley did a Kanye West type of grabbing attention. Mosley insisted that he will fight Mayweather while the undefeated boxer was being interviewed. Naturally, Floyd Mayweather Jr. looked enraged but was cooled down by onlookers and he just said that this is not Mosley's night.

That rude interruption by Shane Mosley was just so cheap. Obviously, he wants to get the limelight now that Mayweather is setting his eyes on Manny Pacquiao. By getting the ire of Mayweather, Mosley might just get what he wants. However, many analysts think that Manny Pacquiao is still the man to beat for Mayweather to regain his glory. What do you think? Mayweather vs Marquez Results: Mayweather Triumphs Over Marquez

It was a grueling 12 round fight for former pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mexican number one pugilist Juan Manuel Marquez. Juan Manuel Marquez nearly got knocked out on Round 2 but decided to pursue the fight till the end. Yet, the Mexican fighter still failed to have Mayweather his first taste of defeat. After a judges' unanimous decision, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still undefeated with now 40 wins under his belt.

It is said that whoever wins in this "Number One vs Numero Uno" fight held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will be the one facing Manny Pacquiao. Rest assured, the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight will be the next big boxing event that fans will be rooting for. As for Marquez, this might spell the end of his career unless he comes up with another exciting fight in line.

Beyonce Sued for “Fierce” by Abercrombie & Fitch

Beyonce Knowles might not get her "fierceness" in the perfume line she's planning to release on 2010 as Abercrombie & Fitch Co. is suing her for just the "intent" to use their trademarked name "Fierce" on a fragrance. A&F reasoned out that this might cause "confusion" among people because the company owns the name since 2002.

According to Reuters report, A&F Abercrombie has "sold more than $190 million worth of fragrance under the Fierce name, and expects $64 million of sales in 2009". The case is against Beyonce is now known as "Abercrombie & Fitch Co v. Knowles" filed in a U.S. District Court, Southern District of Columbus,Ohio. Oh well, that's some crap about trademark laws -- as if A&F invented the word "fierce" in the dictionary! What if Beyonce will name her perfume "Fierce by Beyonce", can they still succeed in preventing her from using the word? It's just plain dumb, if you ask me. No one or no entity should have a monopoly for the word that has been used over the years.

Anjana Chimp - The Monkey Who Mothered a Puma Cub (Photos)

Anjana Chimp is a chimpanzee who unrequitedly acted as the surrogate mother of a puma cub in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Look how cute they are in the picture! The baby puma's name is Sierra, who's only 9 weeks old and definitely needs motherly love and care. Workers at the Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species Preserve are greatly fascinated at how Anjana the Chimp would feed Sierra milk through a milk bottle and clutch her while taking a walk.

This is not the first time that the 5 year old Anjana acted this way with an orphaned cat. Last year, Anjana Chimp has helped raised two tiger cubs named Mitra and Shiva. Raymond Clark - Yale Lab Technician Held for Annie Le Case

Authorities have already held the primary "person of interest" in the Annie Le case - the Yale student bride-to be who went missing in New Haven early this week and whose body was found in a secured lab area where Raymond Clark, a Yale Animal Research technician had access to. Raymond Clark, who's also 24 years old like Annie Le, was said to have failed the lie detector test and he was allegedly seen in the security cameras in the Yale compound where Annie was found.

Annie Le, a pharmacology graduate student, was supposed to be married to Jonathan Widawsky of Columbia University this Sunday but went missing and the sad news was was received yesterday. Kate Gosselin’s New Hairstyle Revealed in The View

Kate Gosselin sports a new hairdo today as she went on her second time to co-host the talkshow, The View. It was just yesterday that Project Runway winner Christian Siriano was quoted by US Magazine that Kate is "trying to rock my looks" Both Christian and Kate has this asymmetrical cut but now, Kate just ditched away that hairstyle to a much cuter and cleaner cut with wavy curls.

View co-host Joy Behar praised Kate's new hair that it "looks cute". Further in the show, Kate Gosselin revealed that she's still wearing her wedding ring despite her falling out with husband Jon Gosselin as they going through this media-hyped divorce reality drama. Kate Gosselin claims that: “We’re not officially divorced yet, and you know, I’ve had it on for 10 years. It’s upsetting to the kids.” Oh well, it's always nice to sport a new 'do when you're in for a grueling divorce with a husband who's already philandering around and 8 children to think about. Kate Gosselin looks de-stressed and "freshened up" with that new hairstyle.

Gossip Girl Season 3 Episode 2: The Freshman

Gossip Girl Season 3 Episode 2 will be shown on Monday, September 21. Of course, the fans of this hugely popular CW TV show are now excited to know what's going to happen when the gang is now jump-starting their college years. For starters, Blai Waldorf (Leighton Meester) is now a freshman at NYU. It would not be all dandy for Queen B as she has to face a very serious matter -- her roommate is her old enemy Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg). I can just laugh my arse off seeing the look on Blair's face as Georgina beamed that they are "going to be roommates". Classic!

Joining Blair at NYU are Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) and Dan (Penn Badgley), who are two of the people that's not very supportive of Queen B's desire to reign supreme at their new campus. With Georgina on the side, Blair's going to have a fine time there doing her antics as she will make hell freeze over in order to stop Georgina into transforming her as an NYU social outcast.

 

On the other hand, Blair's BFF Serena (Blake Lively) is also on her way to Brown University. In Season 3, Serena and Chuck (Ed Westwick) will be at odds (again?) with each other. Serena is due to connive with Chuck's sworn enemy Carter so that she can get him to stop bugging her. Hollywood Grieves for Patrick Swayze, 57

Who would ever forget his roles in iconic films such as Dirty Dancing, Ghost and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar? It came as a surprise that Patrick Swayze finally succumbed to his 2 year struggle of overcoming pancreatic cancer. Patrick is 57 years old and he moved on at their Los Angeles home "peacefully... with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months" informed Annett Wolf, Swayze's publicist.

CNN revealed that it was March 2008 when Patrick was diagnosed of cancer. Although his battle with his ailment was difficult, Patrick Swayze finished an action series last January titled "The Beast". In an interview with Barbara Walters recently, Patrick seems ready for whatever repercussions his condition might bestow him: "If I leave this Earth, I want to leave this Earth just knowing I've tried to give something back and tried to do something worthwhile with myself". In May 2009, malicious rumors about Patrick’s death went around and it was then promptly denied by his close friends. Patrick Swayze will forever be remembered for his famous roles as he made millions of people laugh, cry and be mesmerized with his charismatic persona on and off screen.

Conceptualized last year, Brainetics is an educational program package consisting of DVDs, educational playing cards and a work book that guarantees learners could do better in mathematics, spelling and other subjects. The full program costs $99.

Like all the infomercials you see on TV, the Brainetics assures "too good to be true" promises. Although it has testimonials from parents and kids who are exposed to the Brainetics system, it is quite unbelievable that the grades of a child undergoing this program has gone from "C" to an "A" by just doing Brainetics for 20 minutes each day. Annie Leibovitz - Famous Photog Escapes Lawsuit

Annie Leibovitz has a lot to be thankful for today. For one, Art Capital Group has dropped a lawsuit directed at her for the $20 million loan she could not afford to pay. The Art Capital Group decided to extend the due date for the repayment of her gazillion loan and restructure the payment terms for the famous celebrity photographer. It was just last year that Leibovitz was caught up in this debt imbroglio as her intellectual property (photos) and even real estate assets came into jeopardy as she nearly set them up for collateral last year to be able to pay up all her debts.

CNN reported that although Leibovitz escaped lawsuit she has to let Art Capital Group be the "exclusive agent in the sale of her real property and copyrights". She still retains ownership of the iconic photos she had taken over the years. One of the most controversial photos by Annie Leibovitz (shown above behind her) was the undressed and very preggy Demi Moore posing for the cover of Vanity Fair in 1991. Recently, Leibovitz was accused of forcing Miley Cyrus to do distasteful poses that are too provocative for her age.

Hoki Fish Dwindles Due to Overfishing for McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish

Ever wonder what's that fish that goes into the patty you're eating after ordering McDonald's Filet-O-Fish? That's called Hoki fish. Yep, you might not heard of it because that odd-looking fish is imported from New Zealand. Hoki fish (Macruronus novaezelandiae) is more commonly known as the blue grenadier or the New Zealand whiptail, which is an endemic fish species in the Australian and New Zealand region. It is an ideal fish filet ingredient because it has more meat and it has no scales because it resides in the sunless depths of the Pacific. McDonald's branches all over the world rely on Hoki fish meat for their Filet-O-Fish sandwich. Each year the Golden Arches buy off as much as 15 million pounds of Hoki fish each year and it became a major export of New Zealand.

Without admitting that hoki is being overfished, New Zealand did a move to lower the allowable catch, "from about 275,000 tons in 2000 and 2001 to about 100,000 tons in 2007 and 2008". According to an NY Times report, Hoki fish is still in an "unfavorable rating" according to ecological standards and steps are being made for hoki fishing to be sustainable. Annie Le – Yale Student and Bride-to-be Goes Missing

The family and friends of Annie Le, 24, a graduate student in Yale University, are worried because she mysteriously disappeared in New Haven, Connecticut on September 8. Le, a petite 4'11 lass, is due to be married on Sunday, September 13, and her fiancé has not heard a word from her. A surveillance photo gathered Annie on her way to a pharmacology located in Amistad Street and she was not seen since then.

A co-worker informed that Annie even left her pocketbook and cell phone in the lab. No one was able to trace where she went or how she managed to leave the lab. Avion Secuestrado en Mexico - Aeromexico Hijacked in Midair Lands Safely

Aeromexico Flight 576 passengers had a taste of fear in midair as five men from Bolivia held them hostage as they demanded to speak with Mexican president Felipe Calderon. The AeroMexico Boeing 737 jetliner was from the resort city of Cancun bound for Mexico City. Luckily, the hijackers were not able to access the cockpit area and they were all apprehended after the plane landed at 2:40 EST. Nobody was hurt but  nervous passengers who were onboard were mostly American tourists on vacation from Cancun.

Some of the passengers were not aware about their situation because the commotion occurred in the rear end area of the plane. It was only after landing that the pilot announced the incident over the intercom. Within minutes, Mexican newspapers distributed the headlines that read "Avion Secuestrado en Mexico". The hijackers explained that they wanted to talk to President Calderon because they have a premonition of an impending earthquake. Melanie Oudin credited her boyfriend Austin as the one who gave her the lucky sneakers she used in the US Open. Instead of bearing her nickname, Oudin's sneakers bears a mantra that read: "Believe".
