I'm not exactly going to be Miss Goody Two Shoes and play it completely by the book. I'm going to be me. I love the work I do. "I couldn't do a nine-to-five. I respect people who do it, but that could never be me. I like to work odd hours. "I like to wake up at 11pm and if I've got a song in my head, go to the studio and record it, then go back to bed, then wake up the kids and take them to school. That's the kind of life I like to live. A very creative life."
After putting her husband on blast for cheating (she emailed his co-workers about it), Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon has filed for divorce from her husband Michael.
Michael and Garcelle with their twins Jaid and Jax
She filed the documents in L.A. County Superior Court on May 10 -- just two days before their 9-year wedding anniversary. Garcelle and Michael have 2-year-old twins together -- she is seeking joint legal and physical custody. As for spousal support -- Garcelle has requested that the judge not award anything to Michael.
In other couples news, Swizz Beatz settled out of court with his ex-Mashonda, to avoid going to court on June 10th. She claimed the 31-year-old producer owed $334,000 in delinquent child support and alimony debt.
Mashonda and Swizzy with their son Kasseem Dean Jr.
Swizz Beatz, who is currently on tour with his pregnant fiance Alicia Keys, recently told the New York Post:
his ex's allegations that he owes $325,000 in equitable distribution and $9000 in alimony and child support are "inaccurate" and "overblown" and said that he's gone "above and beyond" to provide for her and their 13-year-old son, Kasseem Jr.
He said he'd agreed to pay Dean more than the judge required and much more than his lawyer recommended - he even had to sign court papers acknowledging that he was going against his attorney's advice.
"I gave over what the judge was recommending to give. I gave her $700,000 upfront, because I thought $200,000 wasn't enough for what she wanted to do. I still get spit in my face for it," he said.
And a little closer to the region. Tessanne Chin is engaged!
Dancehall.Mobi states:
Dancehall/reggae singer Tessanne Chin is said to be on ‘cloud nine’ today, as her boyfriend – former television presenter, Michael Anthony Cuffe Jr. – reportedly popped the question yesterday, and asked for her hand in marriage during a large family gathering at the home of her sister, Tami Chynn. A teary-eyed Tessanne reportedly said yes, and the couple were cheered on by the many family members on hand, which included both sets of parents. No details forthcoming on a wedding date as yet!
I guess with her baby bump showing through her clothes, Alicia Keys felt it was time to just confirm what everybody has been guessing for the last couple of weeks. She is pregnant and the child's father is her soon-to-be husband, producer Swizz Beatz.

Pitbull announced on his website that he is canceling his May 31st Phoenix Arizona show in protest of new immigration laws there which many feel targets the large Hispanic population and encourages racial profiling. His official statement is below:
I am canceling my concert in Phoenix on May 31... How is the country we enjoy and love bcuz of its human rights, freedom, opportunity and that has been built by immigrants, now start 2 deny them??.. It is contradicting 2 everything the USA stands 4.... official details soon
Alicia Keys was performing in the Netherlands on the 8th and some new pictures were released of her performance showing what many speculate to be a baby bump. If that is true then that means that she is pregnant for her boyfriend (supposed-to be fiance) Swizz Beatz. Even on her official site, fans are talking about it. Time will tell, I guess.
It seems that as of last Friday Mashonda and Swizz Beatz divorce was made final. Though they had already signed the necessary papers, the deal was sealed by a judge's signature.
And it's on to the next one. Well Mashonda is reportedly writing a book about her life (translation: her relationship with Swizzy) with NY Times best-selling author Aliya S. King.
Last month Nas was ordered to pay more than $87,000 in back spousal and child support. The judge also ordered him to pay Kelis $10,000 a month in spousal support to stay current. It's unclear how much Nas is required to pay in monthly child support.
Nas says in the new legal docs obtained by TMZ ... the judge predicated the order on Nas making $152,031 a month, but the rapper says he makes "substantially less than that amount."
Damn...can they just work this out already...sheesh.
Putbull just released the promo video for "Alright" with Miami Carnival scenes...I don't think its the regular Carnival held Columbus day weekend...Probaby Calle Ocho...anyhow...check it out...De part with Machel wineing tooo short....but then again is Pitbull video eh...lol.
Here is the cover for Kelis' new album Fleshtone, which was revealed on her Facebook page.
What do you guys think???? For my part I was expecting someting in one colour, not necessarily the color of her "flesh" but something simple yet striking. I do like the pic but that halo surrounding her or x depending on how you look at it, just makes it a little to busy for me...
Anyhow, still got mad love for Kelis. Take a look at her video for Acapella...nuff props on her creative genius!
According to documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Nas had to immediately fork over $47,249.42 in back child support and $40,454 in back spousal support.
The judge also ordered Nas to pay $10,000/month in spousal support until he pays off the $299,015.50 he owes Kelis.
Nas also has to pay 90% of Kelis' legal fees in the amount of $155,787.28.
Lastly, Nas has to pay $48,549.83 to cover Kelis' accounting expenses.
The lesson, as always -- when Laura Wasser reps your ex, settle as quickly as possible. Nas just learned that the hard way.
Pitbull and AEG Live will bring his "Mr. Worldwide's Carnaval" tour to 19 cities in the U.S. this summer, in what will be the bilingual rapper's biggest domestic tour to date. The U.S. tour starts May 25 at Denver's 1stBank Center and wraps June 27 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom. The club, theater and arena shows have an average capacity of 3,400 people and will likely have an opening act to be determined. In keeping with the Carnaval theme, the production will include Brazilian dancers as well as a live band; merch will be handled by Bandmerch. Pitbull will be touring in between the releases of his Spanish album, “Armando,” slated for release sometime in June on Mr. 305/Sony Latin, and his English follow-up on Mr. 305/Polo Grounds/RCA, which will likely come out in the fall, according to manager Charles Chavez. "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" is at No. 22 this week on Billboard's Hot 100 Recurrent Airplay chart. Pitbull also has four songs on this week's Latin Rhythm digital songs chart: "I Know You Want Me" (at No. 1); "Watagatapitusberry," featuring Sensato del Patio, Black Point, Lil Jon and El Cata; "Culo," featuring Lil Jon; and "Blanco," featuring Pharrell. His "Egoista," with Mexican pop singer Belinda, is No. 40 on Hot Latin Songs. The tour will be heavily marketed with consistent imagery across English and Spanish media, and will include heavy street team and club promotion. "He is very much that universal party act," says Rebeca Leon, VP of Latin talent for AEG Live/Goldenvoice. "Because he’s so universal and he plays to so many audiences, it’s very hard to put your arms around it. It’s a blessing but you have to be really savvy." Another key part of the tour strategy is low ticket prices, at an average of $34, according to Leon. Another idea in the works? Afterparties, in which fans can buy an add-on to their ticket for the chance to party with Pit at a club after the concert. Chavez says Pitbull has grown out of the club circuit, where he had made "a decent amount of money." But for bigger venues, "his price went down to prove he could sell tickets," says Chavez. Pitbull's U.S. trek will include additional dates at Six Flags parks in Connecticut, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Atlanta and Charlotte. Pitbull will perform at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Telemundo on April 29 in the midst of an international tour that will take him to Australia, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Cara Lewis and Michel Vega at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment represented Pitbull in booking his tour. Flesh Tone, the new album from GRAMMY™-nominated singer-songwriter Kelis, will be released in the U.S. and Canada on July 6th and on May 17th in all other countries. Tipped as one of 2010’s “Best Bets” by Billboard, the record will be her first for will.i.am Music Group/Interscope Records.
Last night Kelis was joined by guest DJ will.i.am on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in a riveting performance of lead single “Acapella”(Watch video below). “Acapella,” produced by David Guetta (producer of The Black Eyed Peas’ smash single “I GOTTA FEELING”), is already an international No. 1 hit, having topped both the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs Chart and Music Week’s Pop Club Chart in the U.K. Entertainment Weekly called the song “another tall glass of delicious…a feathery dance-floor delight,” putting it on “The MustList” while People’s “Hot Downloads” column noted: “Kelis brings her milkshake back with ‘Acapella,’ a frenetic techno groove from her forthcoming disc, Flesh Tone.” You can check out the video for “Acapella” – based on a treatment written by Kelis and lensed by co-directors Chris Cottam, Rankin and Nicole Ehrlich – at: www.iamkelis.com
In addition to recording with Guetta, several other influential producers helped Kelis realize her vision for Flesh Tone, her first album in nearly four years. Label head will.i.am, who describes her as “a best kept secret,” produced one track and she also worked withFree School, Boys Noize, Burnz, DJ Ammo and Benny Benassi.
Kelis debuted in 1999 with Kaleidoscope, which featured the ubiquitous MTV/BET hit “Caught Out There.” The track entered the U.K. Singles Chart at No. 4 and Kelis went on to win a BRIT award (“International Breakthrough Act”), an NME award (“Best R&B/Soul Act”) and a Q award (“Best Music Video” for “Caught Out There”). Over the past 10 years, she has worked with a wide variety of artists, including The Neptunes, Andre 3000, Björk, Enrique Iglesias and Raphael Saadiq. Perhaps best-known for her GRAMMY-nominated, Top 5 smash “Milkshake” and the million-selling ringtone “Bossy,” the fashion icon is also a certified chef and a recent graduate of Le Cordon Bleu.
A recentlty released video shows Swizz Beatz and DJ Enuff in a studio chatting about music and it gets personal. Swizzy opens up about the reasons why he and Mashonda could no longer remain a married couple.
Basically according to his side of things she was asking him to choose between their marriage and his eldest son (translation: probably between her and the eldest son's mother)...anyhow he has an interesting take on what it takes to have "balance" check out the video below:
Nas pled not guilty to contempt of court, based on charges from his wife (through her lawyers) that he has failed to pay $200,000 in court ordered child and spousal support.
The couple split up while Kelis was seven months pregnant with their son Kinght and he was ordered to pay $51,000.00 a month in child and spousal support.
The judge will make his decision in March and if Nas is found guilty he will join a list of hip-hop stars who are going to jail this year.
Das menions his problems with his ex on his track with Damian Marley entitled "Strong Will Continue." In it he says, “How in the hell am I supposed to stay comfy/ When I pay child support, alimony monthly…” “So I’ve stuck with some married women so fine, cheating while their husband rushing on the 40-yard line/ Wonder if this is what my ex did the whole time….”
Carmelo Anthony and Lala Vasquez will end their 5 year engagement when they wed on July 10th 2010. Celebrity planner Mindy Weiss (Heidi Klum, Gwen Stefani) is coordinating the event which will be held in New York!
Vibe.com released these pics of the Save The Date cards which went out just in time for Valentine's Day! Designed by Lehr & Black, the cards says “Marry Me” on one side with the wedding details on the other.
